Ayora and Baltra
Santa Cruz Island is located in the middle
of the archipelago. On the southern side
of the island is Puerto Ayora, the largest
town in the Galápagos and the place
in which most tours are based. There are
many hotels and restaurants. North of Santa
Cruz, separated by a narrow strait, is Baltra,
with the islands´ major airport. A
public bus and a ferry connect Baltra airport
with Puerto Ayora.
Puerto Ayora is also the financial and
tourist center of the archipelago and offers
its most important attractions:
